Summer

Really, who doesn't love summer.  You can get out and enjoy the heat.  There are barbeques, longer days, swimming, and everything else that goes with it.  I love the golf in the summer.  You get to sweat, you get to sunburn, and you just enjoy the weather.  I personally don't mind the heat.  I wish there was more time to go swimming though.  What's better than sitting on the deck, drinking a beer, and having a barbeque with family and friends.

Ordering

I posted something a while back about knowing what you want to eat when you pull up to a drive thru.  The same goes for waiting in a line.  The menu is up on the wall.  Can you not read while you wait in line?  I mean how hard is it really.  It's different if you are at a new restaurant and can't figure out what you want.  You aren't holding up the line.  Why is it so hard for people to make up their minds.  The worst part is when people don't even feel bad about making people wait.  Man that makes me angry.

Sandwich Meat

I don't understand why it's so hard to make a sandwich.  Yet, everytime you go out and order a sandwich, they pile all the meat in one spot.  Really?  Do you do that at home when you make yourself a big fat sandwich?  No.  So why do it to other people.  I pay good money for a sandwich and I don't want to have to rearrange the meat every time I order a footlong.  Come on sandwich maker guy.

The Beatles

I think it's a little strange how some music can last so long.  The Beatles seem to never age.  I wasn't around when they started playing, even when the quit playing, but I still love it.  I found a few CD's when I was younger and started listening to them.  It's just amazing that they have survived so long and have stayed so popular with each passing generation.

May = Busy

May is supposed to be the gateway to summer.  The time to relax, go outside and enjoy yourself.  But it seems like May has turned into the busiest month of the year.  It seems as if there is a birthday every 4 days.  Then you have graduations, and everybody invites everybody to one.  Then the kids start summer sports.  It just seems like it never ends.  I don't remember summer being like this.  I just can't wait until June.  Let's just hope the summer slows down and a little and doesn't fly by too fast.

It's Grill Time

I pulled out the grill for the first time this year.  It was great.  Hotdogs and brats.  I love the smell of the grill.  I love the fact that I get to cook outside.  Grilling is great.  I don't know how many other ways I can say it.  Hopefully this year, I will get to grill even more.  I have been adding a few items to my grill menu each year.  I have a few new items I want to try this year as well.  Anyone hungry?

Rainy Fridays

I actually enjoy rainy Fridays.  It's a nice calming way to enter the weekend.  Although, it would be nice if things warmed up and cleared out over the weekend.  Rainy days aren't too bad.  The perfect rainy day is about 65 to 70 degrees with a light drizzle.  There is something about the rain that is very soothing.  Maybe it's the sound or the smell.  Either way, I like it.

Moving

I've been a little busy the past few weeks getting everything ready to move. We got settled in over the weekend and have been putting away boxes for the past few days. Things are looking good and should be about done. Now the only thing we need is a basketball goal and some more tools for the garage. It's nice to have some good help when you move, because there is no way to do it by yourself.

April Fools Day

This used to be one of the cooler "holidays" of the year.  You could pull some really funny pranks or stunts on your coworkers and friends.  But now it seems like everybody knows it's April Fools Day, so they are expecting something to happen.  To really spice things up, why not play pranks on random days of the year.  Everybody is looking for them today.  Isn't the point to catch people off guard.  That's why I say, be crazy all year long and not just on the one day where people are expecting it.

The Bathroom Door

The age old question of the bathroom door.  When you are home alone, do you still shut the bathroom door or do you leave it open?  I find myself shutting it even when no one is home.  Is that really weird?  Maybe it's normal, I don't know.  I guess I'm just in such of habit of shutting the door in any other case, that I don't even think about it.  Then again, I've heard people who say they don't shut the door when people are around.  I don't know about that.

Madness of March

What a beautiful time of the year.  The flowers are starting to sprout, the grass is turning greener, and the brackets have been unveiled.   Doesn't it smell great?  I've probably said it before, but this is the best time of the year.  From the time the brackets come out on Selection Sunday to the end of the first weekend of games, it is hard to find a better time.  Trying to figure out the matchups and who we want to see play.  It doesn't get any better.

TV Shows

I don't watch a lot of TV shows.  I have a few favorites and there are some shows that aren't too bad.  But the only way to watch a show is commercial free.  You can either DVR it and watch it whenever you want.  The other great option is to watch it on DVD.  Just watch the whole season all at once.  Non-stop.  That's the way to do it.  The storylines flow together, you don't have to wait a week or two in between shows.  Just go straight thru a season.  What a great idea.

Olympics

I'm not a big fan of the Olympics.  I am impressed by the talents of the athletes, but just bored mostly by the games.  It's hard to root for an athlete that you've never heard of or that you only see once every four years.  I'm not invested in the people.  I'm all for the USA winning the gold, but its just hard to get into the hoopla.  I know I'm in the minority on this.  Look at the ratings.  They are outstanding.

Grumpy Old Men

If I ever turn into a grumpy old man I hope somebody slaps me.  I'm not sure what it is about getting grumpy in old age.  I saw an old guy in the store the other day get mad at the deli lady.  He asked where the chicken was, she told him, and then he told her she was wrong.  Then he told her to go find it for him.  I wanted to smack the old dude.  Then he complained again when she couldn't find the chicken.  Relax man, its just chicken.  Try some turkey or something.

Drive Thru Idiots

I really hate it when you pull into a drive thru line and people don't know what they want to order.  What, is this your first time at McDonalds?  Come on, you know what's on the menu.  Get on with it already.  I can understand if you can't find what drink they have or something, but there's not that many options to choose from.  They even have them numbered for you.  Just pick a number.  Or maybe you should just think for a second before you get to the window.  Geez

Girl Scout Cookies

Girl Scout Cookies are a strange thing.  When it comes time to buy, everybody is gung ho about buying.  Who doesn't want to help out those cute kids, and get a box of cookies?  It seems like you wait forever to get them.  You finally get those boxes and then something strange happens.  You dig in.  But after a week or so, do you notice you still have like 3 boxes left?  Who can really eat all of those things.  They sit there for a while and then you wonder if they are still good.  Am I the only one?

Weekend Plans

It's funny how things never quite work out as expected.  All week long you plan out the things you are going to do over the weekend.  Then wouldn't you know it, by Friday afternoon all of your plans have changed.  Things pop up.  Things you forgot about that you need to finish.  All the little projects you need to do before springtime.  All the laundry and cleaning you need to do.  WHAM!!  The weekend's over.  Time to start planning for next weekend.

Freezing Fog

I don't remember ever hearing about "freezing fog" or "black ice" when I was younger.  Maybe I wasn't paying attention.  I think meteorologists just like to make up cool sounding names.  I mean, do you think people 30 years ago were talking about freezing fog.  No, they just said it's foggy out here and really cold, so watch out for the ice on the roads.

Dress Codes

I gotta admit, I'm not a big fan of dress codes.  I understand that there has to be some control over what we wear to work, but come on.  When it's 104 degrees in July and you have to wear pants to work, what is that all about?  Or what is the big difference between jeans and slacks?  They are both pants right?  I think people would function better if they got to wear t-shirts and shorts.  Why not?  I get it if you work in a store and people need to identify you, but when you sit in an office all day and never see customers.  Come on.

DVR

What a wonderful invention.  Don't you just love the new technology that we have available to us?  What did we ever do before DVR?  It was a pain in the ass to figure out how to set your VCR and you still had to cross your fingers that it would work.  DVR's are great.  Just set it and record.  You can watch whenever you want.  As much as you want.  You can finally catch up on shows or games that you couldn't watch live.  It gives you more flexibility to go out and do things without the risk of missing that show.  I love it.

HUH?

I'm okay with abreviations for some things, like titles and names.  I can't even understand half of the stuff I read on message boards online.  IMHO, LOL, WTF, etc.  (Did you like that etc?)  Anyways.  It takes me about 5 minutes to figure out what these things even mean.  I know I'm aging pretty quickly here.  I realize I'm almost 30, but come on.  What is the world coming to?  GALP (I just made that one up, Get A Life People).  Maybe that one will catch on.

False Hope

January weather is brutal.  You don't know if it's going to snow or be 50 degrees.  That's why I think winter weather always gives us false hope that spring is right around the corner.  You get a couple of nice days and think about how great it is outside and of all the projects you've got to do.  I would almost rather it just stay cold until March.  Then suddenly it would be 50 or 60 degrees everyday.  That would be great.

Billboards

I always laugh when I see billboards on the highway.  It's not like we can stop what we are doing and right down the phone number or directions to the nearest Motel 6.  Why do they even have billboards?  I know the obvious answer, but what is really the point?  They are distracting, hardly ever informative, and usually an eye sore.  Who cares?  Well I guess I do, but I'm not quite sure why.

Bad Weather Reports

I think being a weather guy would be a tough job.  Sort of.  I mean you can be wrong most of the time and still call yourself an expert.  That would be sweet.  But what I hate is when they are way off and you have already planned for it.  Like when they say it will 55 and you wear your light jacket and it ends up being 28.  That's not cool.  Come on weather guy.

Healthy Food

Most of the time I don't like a lot of real healthy food.  It's not like I eat cheeseburgers and pizza everyday, but some of that stuff is nasty.  It is always a nice surprise when you eat something healthy and it actually tastes good.  Maybe my tastebuds have been trained to like the greasy, unhealthy stuff.  I have gotten a little more adventurous with my eating lately.  More fruits and veggies.  Geez, am I getting old or what?

Nap Time

I wonder why companies don't implement a mandatory afternoon nap policy.  Think about how much more productive everyone would be.  Our bodies and brains are always refreshed after a little nap.  Just a 30 minute snooze would be sufficient.  It's been proven scientifically that a few minutes of rest in the afternoon help our brains recharge and get a needed rest in the middle of the day.  Go ask your boss about it and see if you can implement a little rest period every afternoon.  It's worth a shot.

Stupid Cold

Thats the only way to describe the weather right now.  It is stupid cold.  When the wind is blowing over 25 MPH and the actual temperature is below zero, we should spend the day at home in front of the fireplace.  No one should have to work (except maybe pizza delivery guys) on days like this.  Who is really out doing things on days like this?  It is stupid.  And cold.  It is stupid cold.

Cold Weather = Pee

Like its not bad enough for people with small bladders.  Take a few sips of a cold beverage in the wintertime and BAM, nature calls.  I think winter weather causes me to pee like 2 or 3 times more often than in warmer weather.  Come on.  It's a good thing my desk is about 10 feet from the bathroom.  I bet I lose weight in the wintertime with how much I pee.  Geez, what a pisser.

2010

It's my first post of 2010.  That just looks weird.  Getting through the holidays is always an adventure and usually pretty busy.  A new year is always a fresh start.  A time to recharge and look at your goals again.  I always like looking at each year from the beginning and seeing what things I want to accomplish this year.  Some goals stay the same year after year and some change as we get older.  Its all part of the game.
